Police conduct massive search operation in capital

ISLAMABAD May 28: Islamabad Police on Wednesday conducted massive search operation in various localities of the city as a part of high vigilance strategy and to maintain tranquility.
Following the direction from Islamabad Police chief Aftab Ahmad Cheema police officials of the city conducted this search operation, checked 190 persons and and arrested 15 of them for being suspects. Police also impounded 11 bikes and two vehicles.
This search operation was participated by SP Rural Zone, SP Sadar Zone, SHO Sihala, SHO Ramna and other police officials. They conducted search operation in their respective areas of Murad Town, Mhora Kalo, Dokh Qureshia, Dokh Awan, Sector G-11-3, Mera Abadia. Police have checked around 190 persons and arrested around 15 suspects under 55/109. The police also impounded 11 motorcycles and two vehicles on the road without documents. The police have also arrested ten beggars. Further investigation of the cases was underway.
SSP Islamabad Muhammad Ali Nekokara said, objective of search operation was to keep an eye on the criminal elements and improve law and order situation. He issued directives to all the SHOs to continue search operation and keep an eye on suspects on their respective areas.

19 outlaws held ; 110 wine bottles and cache of hashish recovered
ISLAMABAD, May 14: Islamabad Capital Territory Police have arrested 19 outlaws from various area of the city and recovered stolen bike, illegal weapons, narcotics and wine from their possession, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.
According to details, senior police officials directed all heads of police stations to ensure effective security and patrolling measures in their respective areas. They were directed to take strict action against vehicles being driven without documents and irrelevant persons.
During last 24 hours, Islamabad police also impounded 107 bikes and nine vehicles during general hold up. Police teams also apprehended three suspects during search operation in different localities.
Meanwhile, Nilor Police arrested drug pusher namely Afzal Zaheer and recovered 1.50 kilogram hashish, one 30 bore pistol and 12 bore rifle from him. Bani Gala police arrested Abdul Jabbar and recovered one stolen bike from him.
Sihala Police arrested a bootlegger identified as Tahir Mehmood and recovered three wine bottles from him. Margallah police arrested bootleggers Rehm Massiah and recovered 50 wine bottles from him.
Police team also arrested two accused namely Aftab and Sadeer for having 30 bore pistol and one 12 bore rifle respectively. Golra Police arrested four accused namely Haris Ali Khan, Faizan Tariq , Jawad Ahmed, Mujahid Khan and recovered one pistol 30 bore , revolving light and uniforms of law enforcement agency from them.
CIA Police arrested two bootleggers Ilyas Masih and Asif for having 50 wine bottles while Aabpara police apprehended Altaf in possession of 50 garm hashish. Ramana Police arrested two bootleggers namely Mobeen and Zargam Khan for having wine.
Kohsar police arrested four accused namely Sajid Sohail , Moon Masih, Shamoon Masih, Shafique Masih and recovered six wine bottles wine, 18 cans of beer and 510 gram hashish from their possession.
Separate cases have been registered against the accused and further investigation is underway.
SSP Islamabad Muhammad Ali Naikokara has directed all SHOs for effective steps to curb activities of criminal elements. He also asked for strict vigilance against suspects and enhanced patrolling measures in the city.

ISLAMABAD, April 16: Police officials from twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad on Tuesday agreed to use Google map, defining the patrolling points as well as beats and pickets in the city which would be monitored by the officials to ensure effective security.
It was decided in the meeting between police officials of Islamabad and Rawalpindi police who sat together to chalk out an effective joint security plan and decided elaborate measures to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens.
Following the directions from Minister for Interior Ch. Nisar Ali Khan, a meeting of officials of Islamabad and Rawalpindi police was held at Central Police Office Islamabad. The meeting was attended by AIG (Operations) Sultan Azam Temuir, CPO Rawalpindi Humayun Basheer Tarar, SP (City) Mustansar Feeroz, SP (Saddar) Muhammad Ilyas, SP (Investigation) Jameel Ahmed Hashmi, Administration Officer Iqbal Nasir from Islamabad police and SP Haroon Joiya, SP Malik Karamat from Rawalpindi police.
AIG (Operations) said that an elaborate joint security plan is crucial for twin cities. He asked the police officials of both cities to enhance coordination and ensure prompt exchange of information. He said that joint pickets at inlets / outlets has been established and search operation in slum areas to be continued.
The officers discussed the functioning of `joint communication control room’ and decided to install security cameras at various toll plazas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. He said that patrolling mechanism for both cities would be made effective and officers would patrol in various areas.
The meeting decided that crackdown would remain continue against dacoits, car lifting gangs, proclaimed offenders in both cities and criminals wanted to police of any district would be transferred to the respective police station after their arrest.
It was decided that SPs and in-charges of police stations at the border of both cities would conduct meeting on fortnight basis and share information for success against criminal elements.
It was also decided that senior police officials of Islamabad, Rawalpindi would conduct follow-up meeting on monthly basis while Special Branches of Islamabad and Rawalpindi police would share information about received threat messages.
The meting decided that police forces of both cities would be considered one unit and practical steps to be taken for rooting out the menace of terrorism and eradicating crime.
The AIG (operations) said that joint mock exercises to counter any untoward situation would be conducted by security stakeholders and flaws would be removed after reviewing performance.

Funeral prayer of Punjab police gallant cop offered

ISLAMABAD, April 15: The funeral prayer of cop, who died in a bid to foil bank dacoity in Tarnol police area, was offered here at Police Line Headquarters Islamabad on Tuesday, a police spokesman said.
The funeral prayer was attended by AIG (Operations) Sultan Azam Temuri and other senior police officials who saluted to the gallant constable Abrar of Punjab police over his brave act to foil dacoity attempt at Allied Bank Limited in Tarnol police area.


Abrar was performing duty presently with a judge from Bahawalpur and he visited ABL’s ATM to withdraw cash. He came to know that dacoits were present in the bank and trying to loot the cash. He resisted to these dacoits who opened fire on him resulting his instant death.
The dacoits managed to flee after leaving their motorbike on the spot and finger prints have been also obtained. Islamabad police is hopeful to arrest them soon.

He listened to the problems of the people and issued directions to immediately resolve them so that public can trust police and culture of friendly policing can be ensured as per prime objective of Islamabad police. AIG (Operations) Sultan Azam Temuri, SP (City) Mustansar Feeroz, ASP Secretariat Irum Abbassi, SHOs of Secretariat, Bhara Kahu police stations, other police officials and members of coordination committees were also present on the occasion.
Acting IGP said that Islamabad police is taking every possible step to maintain peace in the city and said the force requires the cooperation of citizens as well as traders to ensure fool proof security in markets and other places. He said public cooperation is vital for effective policing and crime can be controlled through involving community in policing affairs fairly.
AIG (Operations) appealed citizens for checking activities of the people in their surroundings and inform the police in case of observing the suspects. He said that effective policing is only possible through cooperation of public and trust between them would be ensured through resolving their problems at their door steps. He said citizens coordination committees have been set up to resolve public problems which are very successfully functioning.
In the end, Chief Coordinator of Citizens Coordination Committee at Secretariat police station presented performance report of the committee to Acting IGP.

Funeral prayer of martyred constable held at Police Line
ISLAMABAD, Apr 13: The funeral prayer of a martyred police constable Zaheer Saqib had been offered in Police Line Headquarter Islamabad on Sunday.
Zaheer Saqib was shot dead by robbers in Sabzi Mandi area during performing his duty at IJ Principal road. Zaheer Saqib was trying to arrest the accused who were engaged in snatching mobile and cash from Muhammad Yar resident
of Charsada and shot dead in result of firing.

The body of the martyred constable Zaheer Saqib had been shifted to his native District Sanghar Sindh for burial. One dacoit was also injured during encounter, it added.
Acting Inspector General of Islamabad police Muhammad Khalid Khattak, AIG Operations Sultan Azam Temuri, SP Headquarter Gulfam Nasir, DSP Ashraf Shah Headquarters, DSP Industrial Area Muhammad Oqab, SHO police station Sabzi Mandi Inspector Asjid Mehmood other police officers and a number of police personnel attended the funeral prayer of martyred constable.
Speaking at the occasion, AIG Operations Sultan Azam Temuri paid tribute to the martyred constable, saying that Islamabad police would not forget its martyrs who rendered sacrifices to protect the lives and properties of citizens.
He said that the institution would provide every possible support and assistance to the families of martyred cops.
He also directed the officials to book the culprits of the incident as soon as possible.

in connection with Street Children Day, organized by Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) in collaboration with an NGO SPARK.
The AIG Operations said that every citizen and department should play their proactive role to ensure provision of better opportunities of living to these children in society.
He said that like other children, street children have right to live healthy and prosperous life with having better relevant facilities. He said that it was the responsibility of every citizen to
look after those children who are involved in beggary or street crimes.
He said that Street Children Day on April 12 should be celebrated as an international day. He said that it is a high time to create awareness on social issues related with street
children. He said that in this regard the Islamabad Traffic Police will start special transmission on ITP FM radio on the street children issue. The event was attended by a large number of street children. Various activities were part of the event. Islamabad Traffic Police also arranged a recreational trip of these children to Shakarparian Playland, Jasmine Garden and other places.

ISLAMABAD April 6: Islamabad police have formally launched “Safe City Campaign” to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens and also inaugurated two days Family Gala in F-9 Park, Islamabad, a police spokesman said.
Six-day campaign was formally launched here by Chief Commissioner Islamabad Jawad Paul with an aim to secure the city and enhance community policing besides increasing police confidence on people. On this occasion Acting ( IGP) Islamabad Khalid Khan Khattak, (AIG) Operations Islamabad Sultan Azam Temuri,( SSP) Traffic Malik Matloob Hussain, SDPO Ramna Sumaira Azam, Officers of CDA and notable citizens were also present.
Along with “Safe City Campaign” Islamabad police have also launched “Anti-Car Lifting Scheme” in order to curb this crime respectively. Equipment and tools to prevent car lifting will now be available at Rescue-15 including immobilizers, chip card and locks. Tools and services to make homes safe will also be available with Rescue-15. Android based, GSM based and Wi-Fi based software had been designed as Panic Alarm system at homes or shops.
The campaign will continue up to April 10 and police will encourage the citizens to be the part of campaign by giving them awareness about its advantages. Data of about 19 lack stolen vehicles is also with Rescue-15. Public would also be welcomed to get vehicles verified before sale/Purchase.
The AIG (Operations) said that Islamabad Police have installed a new helpline system with specially designed software. This will keep record of every call received and undesirable calls. He said Rescue-15 will deploy ATS trained personal on 10 Falcon points across Islamabad. The ATS team had been properly trained and briefed for emergency response.
The AIG said that they will ensure efficient and quick emergency response and extend help to people in trouble. Rescue-15 in collaboration with SPARCO has designed an android based application to direct and monitor the emergency response.
He said Lawyers for free legal advice and doctor for running free medical dispensary would also be part of the campaign. Modern and fully equipped ambulance service is also being initiated in collaboration with Red Crescent Pakistan, the AIG added.
The AIG said that CPCC has been activated again to ensure maximum community participation and to guarantee public friendly policing. He maintained that education float of Rescue-15 will move to various parts in Islamabad to impart awareness. A symbolic walk by involving school students will also be arranged on April 10 in this regard. Rescue-15 at F-9 Park in family gala had arranged stalls to create awareness about rescue services. Advertisement through streamers, banners, leaflets and brushers will be made to create awareness among the public.
Meanwhile, Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has organized two-day family gala at F-9 Park to provide entertainment facilities to residents of Islamabad. Puppet shows have been arranged for the children while various kinds of swings will be placed there. Entry in this gala, starting at 11 am on April 5, 2014, is free of cost and over hundreds of stalls of edible items, jewelry, clothes and others have been arranged there to attract the visitors.
People have god opportunity to spend their free hours in good atmosphere along with their kids. ITP has also arranged Magic shows, Puppet Show, Dog Show, face painting, Jumping Castle slides and cartoon show for this gala. ITP have also managed its stalls in gala where education team of police is educating people about road safety tips and traffic rules.
People from remote areas have also placed their stalls in this gala and introduce their products at comparatively cheaper rates. This gala will culminate on April 6 (Sunday) and famous singers including Nadeem Abbass will also perform in it to enthrall visitors.

ISLAMABAD, April 4: Islamabad Capital Territory Police have impounded 447 bikes and 18 vehicles in general hold up during the last three days , a police spokesman said.
AIG (Operations) Sultan Azam Temuri directed all heads of police stations to ensure effective security and patrolling measures in their respective areas. They were directed to take strict action against vehicles being driven without documents and irrelevant persons.
During last three days, Islamabad police impounded 447 bikes and 18 vehicles during general hold up.
Black sheets were also removed from 19 tinted glass vehicles while police also apprehended 148 beggars from various areas of the city. Police teams also apprehended 64 suspects during search operation in different localities.
AIG (Operations) ha said that additional strength has been provided to police stations from police line headquarters to ensure effective patrolling while pickets have been erected to maintain vigilance.
Meanwhile, Islamabad police arrested 14 outlaws including three proclaimed offenders and recovered weapons, 48 wine bottles and narcotics from their possession. Kohsar police nabbed Pervez Akhtar and recovered 40 cans of beer from him while Ibrahim Rabbani was held for having pistol and ammunition.
CIA police arrested Ameen Qaisar during routine patrolling and recovered eight wine bottles from him while Sabzi Mandi police recovered knife from an accuse Zakir. Shehzad town police apprehended Tariq for having 250 gram hashish while Golra police arrested Sheroz Khan for possessing 30 bore pistol. Ramana police arrested two thieves Arbaz Khan, Shahid and recovered stolen valuables from them While two dacoits Shehzad Arif and Rashid Mehmud were also nabbed.
Sihala police arrested a thief Riaz while three proclaimed offenders have been also arrested in special crackdown wanted to police in crime cases of heinous nature.

ISLAMABAD, April 2: Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad police has busted an inter-provincial gang of car thieves and arrested drug pushers besides recovering five kilogram hashish and weapons from them, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.
He said CIA police got information that three car thieves and drug pushers were present in F-8 who used to smuggle narcotics from KP to twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad and depart after taking away stolen cars. Following this information, AIG( Operations) Sultan Azam Temuri directed SP (Investigation) Jameel Hashmi for immediate action. Special police team was constituted which succeeded to arrest there persons Maqbool Ahmed, Zahid Hussain and Tahir Gul besides recovering five kilogram hashish and two 30 bore pistols from them.
During preliminary investigation, they confessed to lift several cars from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and selling them in Nowshera to car receiver Adnan Khan. Polie have obtained their physical remand from the concered court and further investigation is underway from them.
Meanwhile, CIA police nabbed red-handed crew of an PSO oil tanker including driver Riaz and conductor Aisf who took away 80 liter diesel from the tanker and sold it at PSO petrol pump in Ghora Gali, Muree to a person Sharaft. They have confessed to be involved in such types of activities earlier and are being investigated further.
AIG (Operations) Sultan Azam Temuri has appreciated this performance and directed to take all possible steps for effective policing.

ISLAMABAD, April 2: Islamabad Police have taken several steps to improve the services of Rescue 15 through deputing 98 personnel of Anti-terror squad (ATS) and providing seven vehicles, 12 motorbikes and one ambulance.
AIG (Operations) Sultan Azam Temuri has said that quick response unit has been set up at Rescue 15 which would attend the emergency call and provide immediate assistance to the people. He said that approach time by personnel of Rescue 15 would be five to seven minutes and police officials would reach the scene to provide help to the citizens.
The personnel of ATS squad will patrol on motorbikes and vehicles and to perform duties in their assigned beats.
He said that `Child Reunited Center’ has been set up to trace the missing children and reunite them with their families. He said one ambulance has been provided to Rescue 15 while medical camp has been also established for free and immediate treatment to people.
Mr. Temuri said that safe home scheme is being launched to ensure protection to lives and property of the citizens. He said performance of Rescue 15 would be more effective because this helpline can play a vital role to bridge the gap between police and public.
He said legal advisor has been appointed there which would provide free legal advice to the complainants. He directed policemen to consider each call important and quickly respond to it. “It is the duty of police officers to provide protection to the citizens and provide them immediate help in case of any emergency,” he said adding that community involvement is key to successful policing.
The AIG (Operations) said the help line of Islamabad Police-Rescue 15- is basically revamped to serve the people in case of emergency and its performance will be further improved with cooperation of citizens.

ISLAMABAD: Crickets teams of Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were declared joint champions of the Police Martyrs' Memorial Cricket tournament 2014 as the final match between both teams could not be held due to rain.
This tournament called `All Pakistan Jan Nisar T-20 Cricket Tournament’ was held from March 24 to March 28 and eight cricket teams including Islamabad Police, Frontier Constabulary, Balochistan Police, Punjab Police, Sindh Police, KPK Police, FIA and National Highways and Motorways Police participated in the tournament.
DIG (Headquarters) Khalid Khattak said that this tournament was held to remember those gallant cops who sacrificed their lives to protect the lives of others. He said the whole nation is proud of these brave sons of the soil and they would remain always alive in our heart.
DIG (Headquarters) said that Islamabad Police had organized such tournament in the past which was greatly supported. This event dedicated to the martyred cops would be made held in future too, he maintained.
He congratulated AIG (Establishment) Ashraf Zubair Siddiqui and his team including , SP CID Zubair Ahmed Sheikh and others over making arrangements for this tournament and organizing this event successfully. He also thanked president Islamabad region Cricket Association Shakeel Ahmed Shaikh for his cooperation.
He said that such activities will also remain continue in upcoming days so that policemen can also participate in the sports activities besides performing their professional duties.
In the end, DIG (Headquarters) distributed trophies and prizes among those players who showed good performance in the tournament. The Captains of both team also shared the trophy of the tournament.

Islamabad, March 27, 2014: The cricket teams of Islamabad Police and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) police Thursday won the semifinals and qualified for the final of ‘All Pakistan Police Janisar T20 Cricket Tournament’ organized by Islamabad Police.
In the first semifinal Islamabad Police defeated the National Highways and Motorways Police (NH&MP) team while in the second semifinal Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) cricket team defeated the Frontier Core (FC) team.
In the first semi final of the tournament, Islamabad Police has qualified for the final by defeating NH&MP by 77 runs. The Islamabad Police team in the first innings set the target of 170 runs and restricts the opponent team on just 93 runs in the limited overs.
The final of the tournament would be played among Islamabad Police and KPK teams on Friday (March 28).
Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Ashraf Zubair Siddiquee distributed the prizes among the players for their performance.

Speaking on the occasion AIG Islamabad Police, Zubair Siddiquee said that the purpose of organizing such event was to remind sacrifices of the people who rendered their precious lives for the safety of the country and nation .
He said that these type of activities would be helpful for the physical fitness of police personnels.

ISLAMABAD, March 26: Islamabad police have arrested 11 outlaws from various areas of the city and recovered weapons and wine from their possession, a police spokesman said on Wednesday.
According to details, a special team constituted by SP Industrial Area including police officials of Sabzi Mandi police station busted a gang of dacoits and recovered snatched vehicle and motorbikes from their possession. The nabbed dacoits have been identified as Naeem, Ahmed, Zafar and further investigation is underway from them.
Meanwhile, Secretariat police arrested Qasim Khan and Abdul Hakeem and recovered one 30 bore pistol each from them while Sher Bahadur was nabbed by Margallah police in possession of a wine bottle.
Tarnol police recovered 40 bore pistol from an accused Malik Irfan while Loi Bher police arrested four car occupants Arsalan Ansar, Abdullah, Haroon and Naeem for having three wine bottles. Cases have been registered against them and further investigation is underway from all of the nabbed accused.
During general hold up, Islamabad police impounded 104 bikes and seven vehicles for being driven without authentic documents while black papers were removed from six vehicles.
Senior police officials have directed all SDPOs and SHO to ensure effective policing.

ISLAMABAD, March 26, 2014: As an encouragement for those policemen accomplishing their duties in a responsible manner, IGP Islamabad Sikandar Hayat awarded nine cops as an acknowledgement of their outstanding performance during last month. AIG Operations Islamabad Dr.Sultan Azam Temuri was also present on this occasion.
Those who were given cash prizes and commendation certificates include Inspector Aman Ullah (Special Branch), Sub-Inspector Dilawar (Traffic Division), Sub-Inspector Tehseen (Operation Division), Assistant Sub-Inspector Ghulam Mustafa (Traffic), ASI Shafqat Abbas (Traffic), ASI Saleem Raza (Operation Division), ASI Zahoor Ali (Security Division), Constable Yasir Shah (Security Division) and Constable Kosar Mehmood (Special Branch).
IGP Islamabad Sikandar Hayat said encouragement for policemen showing good performance would be ensured and accountability system to be made more effective to monitor performance of the police officials. He said that hard work always brings success and accountability in any department brings improvement in its performance.
The IGP said that four best performing policemen from each division of Islamabad police would be selected each month who will be not only awarded prizes but welfare steps would be also ensured for them.
He said that Islamabad police force is committed to provide protection and fool proof security to the citizens and this responsibility would be professionally accomplished in future with
same zeal and zest.
“Accountability system helps in improving the performance of any department and working of the staff can be easily judged through it. Such accountability system would continue in future and those performing well would be encouraged”, he added.
He said those policemen involved in corrupt practices or sluggish attitude would have to face strict disciplinary action.

ISLAMABAD, March 25: Shehzad town police Islamabad has busted a gang of Afghan nationals involved in street crime and dacoity incidents, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.
According to details, unidentified persons committed dacoity at `new city whole sale traders general store’ near Bhatta Stop in Shehzad town area and killed Abdul Rasheed besides injuring four others for offering resistance to them. A case (no. 77) was registered at Shehzad town police station and investigation was started into this incident.
SP (Rural) constituted special team to trace the culprits of this heinous crime which succeeded to arrest Shafiq s/o Muhammad Israr and Shams ur Rehman s/o Saif ur Rehman residents of Afghanistan. During the initial investigation, the gangsters have confessed to be involved in street crime and dacoities in various areas of twin cities.
Senior police officials have appreciated this performance and directed to intensify efforts against criminal elements.

ISLAMABAD, March 24: Islamabad police on Monday arrested 20 outlaws including 10 gamblers besides recovering stake money, 10 mobiles, wine and stolen property from their possession a police spokesman said.
According to details, Aabpara police arrested two bootleggers namely Shafique Gull, Khuram Masih and recovered 04 wine bottles from their possession.
Shalimar police arrested accused Hameed Ullah and recovered 05 wine bottles from him. Ramna police arrested accused Azhar and Lohi bher police held Noor Ullah for having weapons and ammunition.
Sihala police arrested accused Rabnawaz involved in decanting gas in cylinders llegally. On a tip off, Koral police raided at gambling den at villiage `Pehja' and arrested 10 gamblers red handed.
They were identified as Arslan Shamraiz, Arshad Mehmood, Ishtiaq, Shah Zil, Qasim, Khadam, Safdar Ali, Mudasar, Tasawur and Babar Saleem. Police team recovered stake Rs. 5390 and 10 mobiles from their possession.
Cases have been registered against the accused and further investigation was underway. Meanwhile police arrested three proclaimed offenders from various area of the city.
During general hold up, 87 bikes and 09 cars were impounded in various police stations for being driven without authentic documents while black papers were removed from 07 tinted glasses.
Senior police official appreciated the performance of the police and crackdown against the criminals and anti-social elements.
